"Veronica?" He didn't even bother answering the locket. There were only two rum bottles beside him, after all, and one in progress. It wasn't even very good stuff -- quite watered-down. "Over here!"

She makes her way upward, rubbing at her nose when it itches with the need to sneeze from all the dust. She sees him over in the corner on a chair surrounded by what look like zombie prom mannequins. She sighs and makes her way over. "You weren't kidding about the dresses. You realize you're going to have to make the most compelling of arguments to get me in one of those, right?"

"I like the one made from black leather," he says, gesturing to something that looks like it came from an S&M dungeon. "But it needs more lace."

"That's nice. I'm sure it'll look lovely on you." Yep, she was being purposefully obtuse here.

[all7seas]

"Or there's this red one." It looked like something the bride of Dracula would wear. Shiny, shiny satin and lace and a terrifying bodice. "I don't know what ladies of your time and place wear."

[isitapony]

"Not that. Our dresses generally only require the wearer to put it on. I think I'd need fifteen people to get me into that." Jack... what're you doing, Jack?

"I can do it by me lonesome. Get you into it, I mean."

[isitapony]

"Hah, no you can't. What's with the dress fetish, Jack? Suddenly my jeans aren't good enough for you?"

"Because you're going to dance with me at the party and you cannot dance at a grand party in jeans." Don't get him wrong, though; he loved the jeans.

"... What makes you think I'm going to the party?"

[all7seas]

"Because you're my date." It was a modern word that he'd picked up from some of the more advanced residents of Caer Scima. He didn't ENTIRELY understand the concept yet but it would probably come with time.

"This might be a new concept to you, pirate, but you generally have to ask someone if they'll be your date. And they have to accept."

"Oh.






Be my date?"

[isitapony]

"Shouldn't you be asking Chloe?"

[all7seas]

"Why should I be asking Chloe?" ...Did she know something Jack didn't know?

[isitapony]

"Didn't you say you went and had a bath with her? Doesn't that make you guys..." She did a sort of motion with her hands. Come on, Jack. Figure it out.

[all7seas]

"...Bath-friends?"

[isitapony]

"Mm, a bit more than that." Jack. Jack.

[all7seas]

And he'd gone on a date with Buffy Summers, too. And asked Willow out for drinks. "Veronica, don't be jealous. All she did was scrub the hard-to-reach places. You can still be my date for the party! We'll have a great deal of fun, you and I."

[isitapony]

Yeah, she snorted at that. "I'm not jealous, Jack. Jealousy implies that I want what they have." Look how much she doesn't want it, Jack. She's standing there in a bubble of not-wanting.

"So that's a yes, then?"

[isitapony]

"Why the hell do you want to go to a party with me? Aren't you sick of me yet? Or afraid for your life?"

[all7seas]

"Because. No. Yes."

[isitapony]

He'd answered in progression and... okay. She grinned. He was an odd little man with odd little habits, but he somehow managed to make her smile. "And what if I don't want to go to some party?"

[all7seas]

"But all ladies love parties! They love putting on frilly things and dancing about!" Stop contradicting everything he knows about ladies, Veronica. "Well then, I suppose...you shall say no to me. Again."
